Làm nóng chảo với 2 muỗng canh dầu ăn, cho 50gr hành tây cắt hạt lựu vào xào thơm. Khi hành chuyển trong cho 150gr thịt gà cắt nhỏ vào, xào cho thịt gà chín. Có thể thay thế thịt gà bằng thịt heo cho món cơm cuộn trứng - omurice tùy theo sở thích của gia đình bạn.
Thêm 200gr cơm nguội, xào cho cơm tơi ra thì thêm vào 3 muỗng canh tương cà, 1 ít muối, 1 ít tiêu, xào đều tay. Khi cơm và thịt gà áo đều một lớp màu đỏ đẹp của tương cà thì múc cơm ra chén, để riêng.
Đánh tan 3 quả trứng với 1 ít muối. Làm nóng chảo, cho vào 5gr bơ lạt, đợi bơ chảy hết thì đổ trứng vào, dùng đũa dàn đều cho mặt dưới của trứng chín đều, mặt trên vẫn còn hơi ướt. Để làm cơm cuộn trứng - omurice được đẹp thì mặt phẳng trứng chiên phải to và được dàn mỏng đều.
Cách làm cơm cuộn trứng: Đổ chén cơm chiên lúc nãy lên trên trứng. Dùng đũa dàn cơm sao cho cơm nằm gọn 1 đường trong lòng trứng, chừa 2 mép 2 bên để một lát ta sẽ gấp 2 mép đó và bọc cơm lại. Dùng phới dẹt hoặc sạn mỏng để bọc trứng lại dễ dàng hơn.
Cho cơm cuộn trứng - omurice ra đĩa (lật mặt trứng chiên tiếp xúc với chảo lên trên), giấu mép trứng xuống đáy đĩa. Cơm chiên bọc trứng thường được ăn cùng tương cà để tạo thêm hương vị và tăng cảm giác ngon miệng.
